Many air purifiers miss mold toxins. AirDoctor doesn’t.
Capture dangerous mycotoxins with advanced 3-stage filtration featuring UltraHEPA®.
The experts have spoken
Why standard HEPA filters aren’t enough for mold toxins
HEPA filters work great for mold spores, since mold spores are typically 2-10 microns.
But capturing smaller and scarier mycotoxins released by common household molds is trickier. That’s because mycotoxins are around 0.1 microns, and the HEPA standard doesn't account for particles that small.
AirDoctor’s advanced 3-stage filtration system features a proprietary UltraHEPA filter, which removes 99.99% of harmful airborne contaminants as small as .003 microns. That’s 100x smaller than the HEPA standard—and includes harmful mycotoxins at ∼0.1 microns.
Get the high-performance air purifier that goes beyond standard mold spore capture to target mycotoxins—a critical issue that can harm both your physical and mental health.

Our most awarded air purifier
Our newest AirDoctor air purifier combines award-winning performance with a sleek new design. Available in two new colors, our most energy efficient model is ideal for large rooms and open concepts.
Finally, an air purifier built for mold ...and more
AirDoctor’s 3-stage filtration goes beyond standard purifiers. It not only captures mycotoxins, but also toxic gases that ordinary air purifiers let slip through.
Pre-filter
Captures larger particles like dust and pet hair, protecting the other filters and extending their lifespans.
Premium carbon filter
Reduces pollutants, including odors, toxic gases, and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) from cooking, cleaning, furniture, etc.
UltraHEPA filter
Captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.003 microns, including mold spores, mycotoxins, dust, pollen, pet dander, and even viruses.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, but with a caveat: an air purifier can capture airborne mold spores, which helps prevent them from forming mold colonies, but it can’t eliminate mold that’s already growing. Also, HEPA filters trap spores rather than kill them, so replacing filters on schedule matters.
Where AirDoctor goes further: mold also releases mycotoxins, which are far smaller than mold spores. AirDoctor's UltraHEPA is independently tested to capture particles as small as 0.003 microns — 100x smaller than standard HEPA — so it captures airborne mold spores and the finer mycotoxins too.*
*Mycotoxins are an indicator of mold growth in the home. While AirDoctor can capture mold spores, it is not a replacement for professional mold abatement.
Yes — it handles a different part of the problem. That musty, damp smell mold produces isn’t the spores themselves; it’s a set of gaseous compounds called MVOCs (microbial volatile organic compounds). Those pass through a HEPA filter, but they're exactly what activated carbon is built to adsorb. So the carbon filter is what actually addresses mold odor.
Further, AirDoctor’s carbon stage pairs activated carbon with potassium permanganate to trap those gases and VOCs and convert them into stable, non-hazardous by-products. Together, the two filters cover both sides of mold: the airborne particles and MVOCs which cause the odor.
CADR, or Clean Air Delivery Rate, measures cleaning power—the speed and volume of clean air delivered by the purifier, usually in cubic feet per minute (CFM). A higher CADR numbers means better performance.
It depends on your room size. Basically, the bigger the room, the bigger the AirDoctor.
When deciding, the key numbers to consider are:
ACH measures cleaning frequency—how many times a particular model circulates (cleans) the air in a room in 1 hour.
A Harvard University study cited by the CDC recommends at least 4 air changes per hour to effectively and efficiently remove allergens (dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, etc.) smoke, bacteria, and viruses.*

HEPA filters are tested to capture 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. UltraHEPA is a medical-grade filter that exceeds that standard. AirDoctor's UltraHEPA filter is proven to capture 99.99% of airborne particles as small as .003 microns. That’s 100x smaller than the HEPA standard!
The change filter alert will let you know when it’s time to change a filter, so you’ll never have to guess.
Environmental factors (like how dirty your air is) can affect filter life, but the typical timeframe is:
Pre-filter: Every 6 months*
Carbon filter: Every 6 months
UltraHEPA® filter: Every 12 months
*The pre-filter is attached to the carbon filter. We recommend vacuuming the pre-filter with a brush attachment once a month to help extend the life of the carbon and UltraHEPA filters.

Here’s why: generic knockoff filters will degrade your AirDoctor’s performance, failing to protect you against serious airborne threats including harmful microscopic particles and toxic gases. Plus, those inferior filters cost more in the long run by decreasing your AirDoctor’s lifespan and voiding your warranty.
