We take over 20,000 breaths per day, inhaling whatever pollutants are in our environment. Even when you’re “safe” at home your health is at risk.
Not only does outdoor pollution make its way inside, there are many indoor sources of air pollution too, including stoves, cleaning products, and building materials. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says indoor air can be 5x–100x more polluted than outdoor air!
Now the good news. AirDoctor’s UltraHEPA filter removes virtually 100% of airborne contaminants as small as 0.003 microns—that’s 100x smaller than the HEPA standard.
Capture the airborne contaminants hiding in your home’s air and take control of your air quality with AirDoctor.
Inside our Premium Carbon/VOC Filter
Remove the toxic gases most air purifiers miss.
HEPA-only air purifiers only do half the job. They remove harmful particles, but do nothing to protect you from toxic gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs):
Toxic gases: ozone, nitrogen dioxide, etc.
VOCs: benzene, formaldehyde, & more from furniture, flooring, cleaning products, etc.
Health risks: Asthma, cognitive decline, cardiovascular disease, & even cancer
Our premium carbon filter enhanced with potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) is the answer. The activated carbon traps gases and VOCs, and the KMnO₄ converts them into stable, non-hazardous by-products.
Get full-spectrum protection with AirDoctor.

Reviews
The packaging for these pre-filters
"The packaging for these pre-filters was extremely disappointing. The shipping box was unsealed, and even the plastic bag containing the filters was left open. For a product designed to capture dust and other particles, the filters should arrive in properly sealed packaging to prevent contamination before use. The tabs on the pre-filters were also pressed into one another during shipping, leaving visible dents. The flimsy cardboard packaging offered very little protection. Given the premium prices AirDoctor charges, the company really needs to improve its packaging and quality control. This delivery also reminded me that I experienced a similar issue in the past, only to receive an unsatisfactory and dismissive response from customer service. At this price point, customers should expect much better."

Expensive shipping costs
"I think it’s BS that they charge so much for shipping. The filters are already crazy expensive and my shipping added another $60…. Even though I spent $460 on filters and then the shipping took me over $500"

AD 5500 filters
"Wish I could offer a review but had you checked prior to sending this email you’d know it still has ‘not’ been delivered. And I just had phone conversation with I believe Carla only yesterday. I’m guessing these calls or deliveries are not noted in your system. Ordered on 3/2/26"

Negative
"When I change the filters it’s not letting me reset the change filter error message on the actual device. When I called the customer service said, sometimes those stop working but you aren’t in Warrenty anymore so we can’t help you. I thought this was a rework awful response given I have three air doctor filters around my home and have beeen A customer for years."

Filter replacement cost is out of control
"For my household, replacing filters for all 3 units runs about $800 per year. That is insane. I posted about this on social media and got thousands of likes and comments from people saying the same thing — a lot of people regret buying AirDoctor because of how expensive it is to maintain. It also explains why you see so many AirDoctor units listed on Facebook Marketplace. People are selling them and switching to other brands that don’t charge an arm and a leg just to keep the purifier running. And the shipping situation makes it even worse. It’s wild that even in the same transaction, each item gets its own shipping fee (about $20 each). So if you order 3 replacement filters, you’re paying roughly $60 just in shipping, even though all 3 comes in one box. That feels excessive and honestly makes customers feel taken advantage of. Based on all the comments I received, there are plenty of other air purifier brands out there that work well and have replacement filters that cost way less. That’s exactly why I’m considering switching after this year — the filter pricing and shipping fees with AirDoctor just aren’t sustainable. Bottom line: be aware the replacement filter pricing and shipping charges can turn this into a very expensive long-term commitment."

Amazing air filter and best customer service
"Air Dr. is an amazing company. They offered a generous discount to Californians who were affected by the fire. The filters made all the difference. Plus when I ordered the first time and when I called to order replacement filters customer service was fantastic. Warm, helpful and efficient. The best filters and the market from a company with soul!"

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are air changes per hour (ACH) important when shopping for an air purifier?
Air changes per hour (ACH) refers to how many times the air is changed with new, clean air in a given space within the span of an hour. A Harvard University Study cited by the CDC recommends at least 4 air changes per hour to effectively remove allergens like smoke, bacteria, viruses, dust, and pollen.
What is CADR, and why’s it important?
CADR, or Clean Air Delivery Rate, refers to your air purifier’s efficiency in removing these three contaminants over time: pollen, dust, and smoke. Higher CADR numbers indicate better air cleaning performance. The smoke CADR number is most stringent, reflecting the unit’s ability to eliminate the smallest and most dangerous particles from your indoor air.
Which air purifier is right for me?
Great question! Choosing the right air purifier will depend on the size of your room and the air circulations per hour. According to the Harvard University study, 4 air changes per hour are recommended for optimal purification. AirDoctor units are designed to meet this standard.
How often do I need to change the filters?
AirDoctor 1000: Replace UltraHEPA® and Carbon/VOC filters every 6 months.
All other AirDoctor units:
Replace Carbon/VOC filters every 6 months.
Replace UltraHEPA® filters every 12 months.
The indicator light on your AirDoctor will also light on when it’s time to replace your filter
– no more guesswork!
