Prioritizing Wildfire Restoration

When it comes to cleaning the air outside, you can't beat trees.

They release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas that contributes to air pollution and warming temps. But major wildfire damage has left far fewer trees to fight the good fight.

Every wildfire season, we help people breathe cleaner air indoors when harmful smoke fills the sky outside. But we don't stop caring once the smoke clears. The burned trees need replacing, and that's a responsibility we take seriously.

9,471 new trees planted with our help

To restore some of what nature lost, we partnered with the environmental non-profit group One Tree Planted during Earth Month (April).

Our donation for every AirDoctor air purifier sold enabled them to plant 9,471 trees across two projects in wildfire-ravaged areas of California—landscapes still recovering from lasting damage. Rebuilding them isn't quick or simple. It's a long-term commitment, and it's one we're glad to make alongside communities working to bring these places back.

Why this matters

In addition to providing homes for a huge number of birds and other animals, trees play a crucial role in climate change resilience. From One Tree Planted:

"Trees can absorb an average of 22 lbs of carbon/year over the first 20 years of growth, playing an important role in helping society mitigate the effects of climate change. Healthy forests increase climate change resilience in many ways – including reducing ambient temperatures by an average of 8° Celsius." That's 46.4° Fahrenheit.

And that means those new trees have the potential to absorb approximately 208,362 lbs of carbon per year in the first 20 years alone—or about 104 tons.

We're proud to help clean the air outdoors, while we continue our mission of providing people everywhere with cleaner air indoors. Because everybody should be breathing cleaner air every day, in their homes, in the communities they call home, and in the wild places that support them too.
